The BlogCatalog Community Fundraising Event Challenge for Public School Teachers & Student.
While this blog is mainly about Affiliate Marketing, today we are
making an exception in order to help school children secure the
best possible future.
BlogCatalog and it's community of bloggers have joined together
today May 28, 2007 to help spread the word about a wonderful
organization that is making it possible for children to get the
exposure to resources public schools often lack. Students in need
can use the donations to help them get a fair chance at receiving
a well rounded education.
At the DonorsChoose not-for-profit web site, "teachers submit project
proposals for materials or experiences their students need to learn."
These ideas become classroom reality when concerned individuals,...
such as the blogcatalog community and readers select projects to fund.
The teachers proposals range from "Magical Math Centers" ($200) to
"Big Book Bonanza"($320), to "Cooking Across the Curriculum"
($1,100). Any individual can search such proposals by areas of
interest, learn about classroom needs, and choose to fund the
project(s) they find most compelling. "In completing a project, donors
receive a feedback package of student photos and thank-you notes, a
teacher impact letter, and an expenditure report showing that their
tax- deductible gift was spent as directed."
DonorsChoose volunteers screen each project proposal before posting
to the website. Volunteers verify that the teacher and project meet
their eligibility requirements, emailing follow-up questions to the teacher
if anything is unclear.
- Concerned individuals fund the student projects of their choice—in whole or in part—and are emailed immediate email gift acknowledgments from DonorsChoose which can be used for tax deduction purposes.
- By sharing DonorsChoose with friends, family, and colleagues, you can help bring resources to students in struggling classrooms.
